Sri Lanka calling…
As you read this blog the Reclaim team will have just landed in Colombo and will be getting ready for our Sri Lanka yoga break! Our next weekly post will be from there but in the meantime here’s some more background on our team and what you can experience on one of our breaks…
In addition to being a very talented Scaravelli inspired yoga teacher, Helen Noakes is trained in the art of Chavutti massage. For those of you who have never tried it, in a Chavutti massage you are massaged from head toe in long sweeping strokes by Helen’s feet. Helen doesn’t put her full weight on you as she always keeps one foot on the ground while holding a rope above her head for balance.
Helen considers her introduction to Chavutti as one of the milestones in her journey as a bodyworker. She became acquainted with Chavutti Thirumal in Kerala in 1998, where she trained with Veejay and Padma Nair. Almost immediately, she was hooked by this unique style, practising regularly and refining her skills while adding to her knowledge of the body by attending courses in deep tissue, hot stones and holistic medical massage with The Jing School of Massage.
Receiving a Chavutti massage completely relaxes and grounds you while rejuvenating and energizing your body. It is especially good for ironing out deep tension, and is a great treatment to have alongside yoga practise to increase flexibility. Helen gives Chavutti massage treatments exclusively for clients on Reclaim Your Self yoga breaks – she’ll be massaging our lucky clients in Sri lanka next week!
Helen is now a qualified Chavutti teacher and runs training courses around the world. If you want a treatment in London, why not look up one of her students. Try Barbara Mella or Michelle Ogilvie.

Her next 10 day training course will be in Goa, India from January 23rd to February 3rd, 2012.
Thank you Helen!
